"RE: Grave Danger"

A record breaking two hundred paintball enthusiasts participated in the fourth Mission Masters event of the 2005 season. In the spirit of Halloween, Three Rivers Paintball (TRP) of Freedom, Pennsylvania, hosted the "RE:Grave Danger" Mission Paintball Games on Saturday, October 29, 2005. Paintballers of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds gathered to celebrate the great sport of paintball with a twist and Halloween spirit. Many new players joined the paintball fun for their very first time. It was a great way to welcome them into the sport. After a week of rain, this day would be sunny and in the mid-50's - perfect for autumn paintball! Not to mention it was the peak weekend for autumn beauty in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Three Rivers Paintball Pro Shop was decorated with many event posters, historic paintball markers, and the latest paintball technology. Halloween candy and two video monitors screening the "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" movie added mood to the event. Hot food was available at a tent arranged near the Pro Shop.

The Grave Danger story is about a city under attack by mercenaries and zombies. The city's police force and special ops are among the only people remaining to fight for survival. Special characters and props added plenty of depth and mystery to the game. On field puzzles during the action added original and intense moments while smoke bombs added visual effects at several missions and haunted sound effects put mood in the scene. It was an event dazzling all of your senses!

The playing field was specially prepared by TRP for the mission games. A tower at the middle of the field served as a mausoleum with booming haunted sound effects. Several nearby tombstones defined the graveyard area. A vehicle was added to this scene for effect and realism. Large signs identified important bunkers and locations making it more "game friendly" to the players. Many field locations and features were incorporated into the action and storyline. A large map of the playing field was posted at the staging area so players could orient themselves with the field as it related to the story as well as discuss strategies.

After dividing teams, players were fitted with custom armbands, which didn't take long to run short of. Next, everyone was gathered for the event briefing and was now ready to hit the field for some Mission Paintball action. The first mission had the teams traveling across the length of the field, parallel to each other, to achieve specialized and common objectives. Each succeeding mission followed a captivating storyline and added new objectives and scoring opportunities. Scoring was close, with the Police Team leading the first half of the game. A modified zombie character appearing in two latter missions swayed momentum against the Police Team giving the Zombie and Mercenary team new found courage they needed to close and surpass the scoring gap for a win. The game was followed with prize give aways that included a TRP Gold Membership Card, many paintball accessories, DVD's, and apparel.

More Mission Masters Paintball Games will be scheduled for the Three Rivers Paintball Park 2006 season.
